Apparently there were some rumours running around USAPL raw nats that raw worlds might be moved to Australia next year. Anyone know anything about this?

Find it hard to believe but would be very interesting if it happened.

started online on facebook by Aussies. Utter rubbish.
It runs like this... If Kazakhstan get a few more positives then it is possible that the IPF exec will decide to ban the Kazahkstan federation. If that happens they probably will not be able to host the worlds. If that happens the IPF exec will have to consider another venue. If an Australian could find a venue, be prepared to run the meet and have a quarter of a million bucks (apparently thats how much it costs), then they could put in a bid. That bid would be considered by the exec.
Lots of IFs. Likely? I was told the ipf would be unlikley to ban the fed even if more positives come up. Thats assuming any do come up. Even if they did- who is the meet director, where will be it held- where is the money coming from? And then the IPF exec has to approve this.
Of course, if we can capture some unicorns- sell them on the black market to wizards- that could help us with the funds- and then the wizards could take care of the rest.

Running a meet that size. Thats what I have been told anyway. For starters- Venue hire for a week, then you have to pay for the drug testing, rooms for testers etc- since ASADA only cover domestic testing- although some is surely recovered via a doping fee. Maybe 7 testers and 14 caperones for a week- a room, probably some additionals costs there. Then there is video streaming, advertising, I believe the hosting nation also pays for the IPF exec members and referees- thats flights and accommodation etc. Then there are the competition requirements- full eleiko sets- it goes on and on. I'm no meet director- there must be a ton of things. But I'm told thats the cost they are expecting.

The expense is such a barrier to holding this event, what a shame.

Surely you'd make some of the 250 thousand back on things like the infamous hotel scam?
I find it interesting that a hypothetical discussion from Australian lifters on facebook somehow ended up being reported as fact in America.

Simple really- a few of us are good mates with the us lifters. Some were involved in the recent Facebook speculation. I don't think it was received over there as fact. I don't know anyone who is keen to organise an event like that even if the Ipf approved it. The thing is you need it all planned before it goes to exec.

The person who passed it on to me thought it was fact. Must have passed through a few discussions on the way.
Ah well, would have been awesome to have it occur, but I can see why it's unlikely.

Yeah- unless I'm totally mistaken its a case of one person saying hey imagine if. Nek minut it's happening. Anyway know something I don't know? Wilks himself told me even if Kazakh returned more positives a fed ban is unlikely. So not sure how we would jump over that fact, the fact the exec decides where the worlds are and they'd most likely sort that out if it happens at the congress in Norway. Plus Wilks himself also told me no way oz would host it.
