Speaking with the vast authority bestowed upon me as the holder of the current fourth top equipped total in 2013 (out of seven), I declare that raw is obviously a far superior form of lifting and that equipped is meaningless, doesn't take any strength at all and is merely an egotistical attempt to falsely increase ones own number.
In seriousness, geared bench was a lot of fun and I plan on spending more time on it - the fact that I got nice carryover to my raw bench didn't hurt. Geared squats were not my favourite thing in the world, although I think with time once I learnt to do them properly I'd come to dislike them only as much as raw squatting. I seriously disliked knee wraps though, they were painful, gave me nothing and made it harder to unrack, walk out and set up.

So I'm thinking of mucking around with squatting with knee wraps over the next month or so. I won't be squatting exclusively with wraps, but I think they might help me work on a few things that will hopefully help my raw squat, principally confidence with weight on the bar and body positioning.
I have 2m THPs.
Any recommendations on wrapping techniques for the solo trainer? I've only used them sparingly when I first started and always had someone experienced wrapping me. The YouTube tutorials I've found are ok but they seem to assume you have 2.5m wraps?

Simple spiral with a bow tie. Start a wrap or two above the knee, spiral down the Back up and tie off. Check the APT tutorial video on the you tubes

spiral is the most basic and easy to replicate If you're not looking to extort. 50kg out of them I wouldn't bother busting out the nose tork and blowing off your nut sack trying to wrap as tight as you can either

Thanks guys, I will give them a go. I'm only trying to overload by about 10-15kg, so a super tight wrap is not really what I'm after at this stage. The spiral ones look perfect.
The comments in the APT tutorial are a classic. "is it supposed to hurt?" "should I take them off between sets. Is wearing them for 15 minutes a bad idea?"

wraps are a useful tool for getting stronger fullstop. Definitely worth using.

Just wondering if anyone has experimented with any "X" style wrap but running the crosses behind the knee? Was mucking around today (it was raining and nothing else to do at the hostel lol) and found that buy getting a lot of the wrap behind the knee it felt like it bunched up and had a lot more "stopping power" than when the crosses were run over the front of the knee Won't get a chance to test it in the gym for at least a few days but would like to know peoples thoughts on this
