Deadlifting, for the most part is the least technical lift, which is why I think the programs focus less on the competition movement but rather building the strength necessary to do the movement.

I actually assumed that the deadlift variations were also chosen based on what was needed in the squat and that the squat was seen as the more taxing lift because squats tend to stay steady at two days a week, while deads increase from one to two then to three.
