Very useful commentary (and includes some of the specific examples we discussed last night too!).
This mirrors my experience, even from a comparative novice. Case in point, my PB for 3 sets of 5 in squat is 130kg. This was in preparation for a comp using linear periodisation. In comp, I squatted 147.5kg and missed 155kg.
On Sheiko I didn't exceed 2 reps at the same weight, 130kg, and squatted 160kg in comp. Big difference.
Same for deadlift. Best 5s = 162.5kg, for a 185kg comp lift. For a Sheiko cycle, my max deadlift in training was 162.5kg for 3 doubles and I hit 190kg with more in the tank.
