I was reading some weightlifting websites over the holidays, and found out that Chinese Weightlifting offers a service where you can come to one of their centers for training over a few weeks. For about US$65 a day, you get accommodation (incl squat toilet!), foods, coaching and training. The schedule goes like this IIRC:
6:30am: get up 6:30-7am: morning play - jogging, sprinting, basketball, soccer etc. 7-7:30am: breakfast 8~11am: morning training session Lunch Early afternoon: sleep, study, play etc. 4~7pm: evening training session Dinner
My kind of holiday camp!
I was chatting with my training partners and said it'd be great to have something similar for powerlifting. Maybe the location can be the Gold Coast or Nauru, where there's not much to do but lift eat sleep lift play & relax on the beach, plus geeking out on lifting stuff! Guaranteed to get stronger.
They do it for many sports I know of: MMA, soccer, etc. some in the off season, some as part of annual training. Why not powerlifting?

We are one of the few IPF countries that does not do squad training camps. I have raised the idea numerous times with senor Wilks, but he didnt seem interested at all. I believe the benefits of this would be huge for all involved. Since we lack an organised coaching structure this sort of thing would go a long way to developing our lifters. I think its a great idea. I was talking with Adam about workshops etc yesterday- I really like the idea of running an event and having all proceeds/money feeding back into the group. There are so many great gyms around the country now it would be easy to organise this and base the camp out of a specific gym- like Gold Coast/Perth etc.

That would be fantastic!
Didn't know other IPF countries do it too. We have a lot to learn from them!

Finland has these as well. Usually it's a weekend and there's different lectures, usually by former World champions and high level specialists in psychology, nutrition, mobility etc. We also have a training system for coaching certificates. I myself for example am level 2 certified. At the moment there are only 2 levels but there are some plans for level 3. IMO no need for professional coaches in pl, at least not in this country.

Yeah honestly these would be excellent. I'd have been keen to host a GC one actually.
