I have a guy who has meet coming on Oct 5th. After that his next meet would probably be on 1st Saturday in January which will be shirted bench only. He's constantly whining about overtraining but I'm trying to get him to understand that in order to move on he needs to up the volume. So with the bench meet in mind, how would I adjust any of these templates or prep/comp cycles here? I've been thinking about different exercises on different days which also means different maxes to know before starting the program. The next full pl meet would be around April/May, possibly even in June. I know most of the guys here are classic/raw but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't normally recommend changing any of the % for equipped bench unless there are issues touching. Most shirts these days are a struggle to touch in- if so you might need to up the loading on a couple of sessions so they lifter can work with enough weight. for example- week 4 of 37 on day 2 has doubles at 85%- I would probably do singles instead and work progressively up with the loads- but using the same number of total reps. Otherwise- my standard approach is to shirt up from 70% and above.

Ok, thanks. Fortunately we have a shirt that allows touching at around 70%. Good advice on the singles in the shirt

Do you mean a training shirt?

Yes. That shirt is good for around 70-80% of his meet shirt. We have had some problems with setting the meet shirt properly. The "window" is so small with it, he needs around 87-90% to touch and if you ask me that is not a very good thing. We also have another training shirt which we haven't tried yet. It has a bit more playground than the first but it's not as tight as the meet shirt.

Seems to work ok.
