I had to stop trying sumo for a while because my adductors flared up and caused some knee issues but my maxes are starting to get closer now after about 5wks. I'm still doing my block pulls sumo till my mobility picks up though

Looks like I'm going back to conventional Mr GCB - groin said no today, something popped. Doesn't feel major but it's not an area I normally feel much tension in except for sumos.

I worked up to a reasonably easy 225 tonight, vids to come. Need a bit more posterior chain flexibility before I can fully emulate Belyaev though.
My new war-cry is now BE LIKE BELYAEV!

Pull yourself into the bar to prevent hips going up first

I've recently enough (a few months) switched to sumo from conventional for the following reasons 1) recovery, particularly of the lower back (mainly for bench as opposed to squats/deads) 2) i had grandma strength hips so i wanted to work on that 3) i'm becoming a massive gear whore and i'll get more out of my suit sumo than conventional As for technique; I've got pretty long legs and a short torso so I take quite a wide stance (wide enough that on an Eleiko my toes would be in danger) with my feet flared out quite substantially. I start with my hips fairly high but still close to the bar and think more about levering it off the ground by pulling my shoulders back as opposed to driving through my legs. Sort of like Laura in this vid www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4UGTLaUouQSo really I guess I'm taking an advantage of leverages as opposed to any muscular strengths or weaknesses. When I started out sumo I think my best pull was about 160 vs 200 conventional. I'm now at 210 vs 205. I think if my sumo gets ahead any further I'll switch back, then keep rotating as 1 brings the other up
