Does anyone know much about this? Had a CT scan a couple weeks ago and it was discovered I have this in my C5 - C7. Googled about it but it seems treatment is just pain relief ( with what, it doesn't state) doc wants me to see a neuro surgeon but I recon he will just google it. I have the tingling and twitching down my left shoulder/arm and my left side is definitely weaker. Any thoughts?

Herniated discs usually you wait for them to self-resolve and just give pain relief, but sometimes more serious ones won't self resolve. If its been around for a while, you might need some sort of operation to free the nerves. Basically, the surgeon needs to decide whether he thinks the operation is worth it for you or not.

The neuro surgeon isnt going to just google it, it is his job. The bad wrap Dr's get by internet heroes is not really justified. Yeah GP's arent the strongest when it comes to musculoskeletal issues but there job is to refer on to appropriate professionals, like physios or the neurosurgeon etc.
There are some conservative treatments to try that often work. Mostly made up of manual therapy (mostly traction and some other stuff), retraction exercises and neural glides. Although i wouldnt just go and do this stuff without having a professional assess you.
Evidence for surgery is mixed and is gradually pointing to conservative treatment as being as effective. However with the weakness not always the case. Still worth trying before surgery though.
Can do more than just waiting for symptoms to resolve
