We are currently restructuring the directory to be less messy, this will probably include merging the powerlifting categories into a single under a single 'Powerlifting' heading. We're building a resource for strength athletes and gym owners around the country to find each other (and competitions!) Free and easy to join so get to it!

I want to compile a PA club list. If everybody could post any clubs (official or unofficial) that they can think of and include location and some contact details (a name, email or fb contact might be best - probably not phone numbers or addresses unless you know this would be ok). Might be cool to know if you want to train when you're travelling, moving or want to recommend somewhere. After some earlier discussions regarding PTC Perth and the appropriateness of it's place on this list, I can now advise that: On Saturday 12th April PTC Perth hosted the PTC PA Open, I believe that it was the biggest PA event in Perth for some time. I thought it was a fantastic day, but I am biased and I will leave it to Paul McManus and Pam Cutjar to make their assessments. The night before the inimitable Pam Cutjar ran a referee clinic which had quite a healthy turnout in addition to PTC members, we had six other attendees. Paul Rucci (PTC Owner and Coach), Marcus Flanagan and I were put through our paces by Pam and we passed the written Referee exam. The next day we sat the practical exam, firstly by sitting with Pam and "shadowing" the side referee. We made our own calls on each lift and noted them down for Pam to mark off. We were then given a turn in the side referee's chair. Paul, Marcus and the other attendees were actually lifting the next day; as I was not competing, I spent the full day in ref mode. I got to take part in the weigh in and equipment check and spent much of the day as a side ref. I don't know what I was so concerned about, squat looks fine?!Paul and I successfully passed our written and practical Referee exams and we now have provisional accreditation for PA events. Marcus was already a provisional referee and received further scrutiny from Pam. PTC Perth PA Members / Officials: Paul Rucci - Owner, Coach, PA Member; PA Provisional Referee. Nathan Baxter - PA member, PA Referee; PA Coach. Les Milhinch - PA member, Strongman, owner of "Awesome As" gym equipment. Marcus Flanagan - PA member, and PA Referee. Dobrila Bijelic - PA member, PA referee. I think it's now safe to say that PTC Perth would qualify as a "PA Friendly" gym. So ... PA lifters ... come one, come all to PTC Perth: Performance Training Centre Web: www.ptcperth.com.auPhone: 0403 608 056 Address: 2/205 Camboon Road, Malaga Perth, WA, 6054 The comp on Saturday would not have been possible without the help of of PTC members. The referee clinic ran quite late, however Ando, Darwin and Yianni stayed back after their workout and helped Paul until midnight to re-arrange the gym. Belinda and Verity called the weights for the spotters and loaders and Kym did the lunch run. The spotters and loaders were Glen (who comes to PTC for Olympic weightlifting); Chris and Roderick. Chris supplied the chairs for the spectators. The centre spotter Roderick needs some special praise. He was the only person behind Nathan Baxter, Les Milhinch and Julian Van Zanden's monster squats. Roderick also stayed back afterwards to help put re-arrange the gym. He then did some upper body accessory work! I'm going to echo Paul's earlier statement - "If its a gym that supports all powerlifting then add PTC Perth".
